According to a Simply Business poll, 37% voted East London as the best area for buy-to-let investment in the capital.
The Borough of Newham continues to be popular with investors, while rental yields in Stratford average at 4.5%, which is above average for London.
For potential investors with smaller budgets, Romford and Rainham are just two places where prices are cheaper but rental yields are solid – averaging around 5.5%.
Though most investors chose East London as the best place in which to invest in the capital, South London came second as the preferred area for investment, with 30% of the vote.
North and West London didn’t reach as many votes in the poll, but both regions can prove lucrative for buy-to-let investors. However, with property prices higher on average in these areas, more capital may be needed in order to secure an investment property.
Despite tax changes and stamp duty increases, rental demand continues to be strong in London, and the capital remains a safe place in which to invest in buy-to-let.
